Mitt Romney’s Political Director Predicts Landslide Victory
Mitt Romney’s political director, Rich Beeson, joined Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday where he predicted an electoral landslide victory on Tuesday for his candidate. He dismissed polls of swing states that show Romney trailing by consistent, if small, margins and said that marginal and independent voters will swing the election in Romney’s favor.
“It looks like the map is starting to expand drastically in our favor,” said Beeson. “This is the case all over the country: they are underperforming and we are over-performing,”
Asked about the Real Clear Politics average of swing state polls, where Gov. Romney trails in most of the competitive states, Beeson said that the polls should be met with some skepticism.
“These polls are like nailing Jell-O to a tree – they’re all over the place,” Beeson said. He said that independent voters will decide the election and that bloc of voters have leaned towards Romney consistently over the past month. He specifically said that, in the key swing state of Ohio, marginal voters who lean Republican and did not vote in 2008 will make up a decisive margin.
“In Ohio, we have 371,000 more high-propensity Republicans than they have Democrats,” Beeson said.
