Morning Joe Mocks Fox News For Predictions About Flynn Judge With Brutal Montage: ‘That Was Rough’

Morning Joe mocked the Fox News hosts who put their faith in the district court judge presiding over Michael Flynn‘s sentencing hearing this week with a montage of their remarks predicting he would side with the former Trump official.

Supporters of the administration on Fox News predicted in the run-up to Tuesday’s hearing that Judge Emmet Sullivan would castigate the FBI for their treatment of Flynn and toss the case against the former national security adviser, who has been charged with lying to federal agents about his contacts with Russia.

The opposite happened: Sullivan issued a harsh scolding of Flynn, said his actions filled him with “disgust,” even telling the retired general: “You sold your country out.” The sentencing was postponed, but the judge did not rule out jail time for Flynn.

Morning Joe aired a stunning montage of the Fox pundits — from Jeannine Pirro to Sean Hannity, Gregg Jarrett, Mollie Hemingway, Alan Dershowitz and Sara Carter — who predicted with high confidence that Sullivan would show mercy on Flynn.

“Wow,” Mika Brzezinski reacted. “That was rough.”

“When you push all your chips to the middle of the table, you better be damned sure you have a good hand,” Willie Geist said.

“That one came up snake eyes,” Joe Scarborough added. “You know, it’s one thing if you’re Bobby Knight, working the refs all day, and maybe you throw a chair across the gymnasium once in a while, but you don’t do this to federal judges.”

“I’ve just got to believe the president, and all the chatter from the Trump apologists, that being picked up specifically by Flynn’s lawyers, got this judge a little worked up,” Scarborough said.

Former U.S. attorney Joyce Vance agreed, saying she didn’t think the judge “appreciated being used as a political football.”
