MSNBC Contributor: Russia Manipulating Trump Will Turn U.S. Into ‘Third Class Country’ With Nukes

During a panel discussion on MSNBC today, MSNBC contributor and counter-terrorism expert Malcolm Nance discussed the mutual admiration expressed between President-elect Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, concluding that Trump is playing right into the former KGB officer’s hands.

Yesterday, the Trump transition team released a letter from Putin to Trump in which the Russian leader wished a Merry Christmas to the incoming POTUS and called on “bilateral cooperation” between the two nations. Trump responded by saying Putin’s “thoughts are so correct” while describing it as a “very nice letter.” The release of the letter came shortly after both leaders expressed similar thoughts on expanding and strengthening the two countries’ nuclear arsenals.

Nance first noted that he doesn’t think the Trump administration will hold Russia accountable now when it comes to hacking of the DNC or John Podesta’s emails during the election. He also stated that he believes Trump will shut down any investigation into Russia’s involvement in influencing in the election.

When it came to the letter, Nance explained that Putin is “laughing at us” over the letters that “stroke Donald Trump nicely.”

So long as he is manipulated like that, Russia and China will take our market share from the world’s — the international markets out there — and the United States will be relegated to a third class country with atomic weapons,” Nance stated.

President-elect Trump has pushed back against the intelligence community’s conclusions that Russia is responsible for the hacks and interfered in the election, calling the assessment “ridiculous.”
