MSNBC Negotiating With Bloomberg to Air Episodes of With All Due Respect
Politico and New York Magazine reports that MSNBC is in negotiations to air episodes of the show, which currently airs in the 5 P.M. hour. Reportedly, MSNBC is looking at reairing the show during the 6 P.M. hour now vacant after Al Sharpton lost his midday show.
NY Magazine’s Gabriel Sherman reports that the talks are part of MSNBC’s desire to shed its liberal image. If the deal succeeds, four full hours of MSNBC’s afternoon line-up would be helmed by industry figures generally not considered to be opinionated liberals: Heilemann and Halperin, and Kate Snow and Chuck Todd.
MSNBC’s interest in With All Due Respect is particularly ironic, considering that Michael Bloomberg himself reportedly expressed his displeasure with the show only a few months ago and was considering not renewing the hosts’ contracts (Bloomberg later denied those reports and extended the show another half-hour).
