MSNBC’s Geist: Harry Reid’s Koch Bros. Comments ‘Beneath the Office’
A Morning Joe panel roundly excoriated Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) Thursday morning for his comments that the GOP was “addicted to Koch.” (Get it? Get it?) Host Joe Scarborough noted that the Koch brothers are responsible for a good deal of philanthropy as well as political influence, while co-host Willie Geist called the comments beneath the dignity of Reid’s office.
“They’ve been called un-American — un-American by the top Democrat?” Scarborough said. “Let’s first tell the truth about them and what they do and put some perspective in it. If we’re talking about how much money the Koch brothers give, these, quote, villains — it’s unbelievable what they’ve done for cancer research, what they’ve done for the arts, what they’ve done for education.”
“I’m not here to defend the Koch brothers,” Geist said. “But I would say for the Senate Majority Leader of the United States to say the Republicans are ‘addicted to Koch,’* it seems a little beneath the office.”
* Get it?
