MSNBC’s Joy Reid Praises Fox News’ Ed Henry For Pruitt Interview: He ‘Was Really Tough On Him’

Earlier this week, embattled EPA chief Scott Pruitt sat down with Fox News’ Ed Henry for an interview that it appeared Pruitt believed would be friendly and full of softballs. Unfortunately for the former Oklahoma attorney general, Henry absolutely grilled him on the recent controversies that have plagued him and his agency in recent weeks.

This morning, a host for one of Fox News’ competitors gave them some dap for the Pruitt interview. At the top of her program this morning, AM Joy’s Joy Reid recapped the tense exchange, noting that Henry started the interview with a “slow opening pitch over home plate” before things went downhill for the EPA director.

After playing clips of Henry pressing Pruitt on his condo rental scandal and handing out huge raises to aides, Reid then offered up some rare praise for Henry and Fox.

Introducing author David Cay Johnston, Reid pointed out that “even Ed Henry was not buying” Pruitt’s excuses during the interview.

“Ed Henry actually did quite a good interview with him and was really tough on him,” Reid declared.

Considering the amount of criticism Reid regularly tosses Fox News’ way — and the amount that network throws back at her — it is fairly noteworthy that she took to the air to applaud Henry for his Pruitt interview.
