MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell Gives Newt Gingrich The ‘Rewrite’ Treatment
MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell gave Newt Gingrich a run through his “Rewrite” machine Monday night, dissecting the potential presidential candidate’s words–and adding a few of his own–on the tender issue of Gingrich’s three marriages. O’Donnell, who called Gingrich “the only exposed serial adulterer in the Republican field,” said Gingrich gets more attention for his many wives than people like Donald Trump do, since Trump’s lived the life of a celebrity and Gingrich has lived the live of a career politician who talks family values.
“There’s only so many families you can have and succeed as a professed family values champion,” said O’Donnell. Later, in discussing a weekend interview Gingrich gave to Fox’s Chris Wallace, O’Donnell was withering in his commentary on Gingrich’s insistence that there was no hypocrisy in calling for President Clinton’s impeachment over an affair at the same time Gingrich himself was having an affair. O’Donnell asks if, when he had his “pants down in your glass house” he ever considered ending his affair.
