MSNBC’s Maddow, O’Donnell And Matthews Predict With Varying Certainty Obama Will Be Re-Elected
AP reports at a panel during the Television Critics Association meetings in California, MSNBC president Phil Griffin, along with hosts Rachel Maddow, Lawrence O’Donnell and Chris Matthews appeared to discuss the news network and also ended up sharing some predictions on the outcome of the 2012 presidential election.
O’Donnell had no reservations concluding that President Obama will be re-elected. Maddow agreed, saying “I guess Obama, but that has mostly to do with the strength of the [Republican] field right now.” Yet Matthews deviated the most, suggesting Obama is likely to win, but that ultimately it will depend on the state of the economy. Especially since according to Matthews, Mitt Romney is “a mood ring” and running against Michele Bachmann would be “just a hoot,” Matthews concludes that Obama is very lucky.
With many feeling overly confident about Obama’s re-election prospects, might it be time for potential Republican challengers to start turning up the heat in order to get the MSNBC hosts and others a bit more worried?
