MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace: Trump ‘Hard-Wired to Never Believe a Victim of Sexual Assault’
During a Wednesday conversation about President Donald Trump‘s attack of Brett Kavanaugh accuser Christine Blasey Ford during a rally, MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace suggested that Trump is “hard-wired to never believe” a sexual assault victim.
New York Times Chief White House Correspondent Peter Baker first suggested the rally crowd got him all revved up.
“It was not supposed to be a direct attack on his accuser Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, especially since it was the president himself who just last week said she was a very credible witness. Something happened, obviously, at that rally,” he said. “He got applause. And it became, you know, he went back to his first instinct. His first instinct, they’re always to attack back.”
Then, turning to another panelist, Wallace suggested something else was at work. His hardwiring just showed its ugly head.
“I think there’s another way of looking at Donald Trump,” Wallace said. “He’s hard-wired to never believe a victim of sexual assault. He’s hard — his hard-wiring has been on display through the Roy Moore allegations, through his own more than a dozen people who have accused him of misconduct. And so, his hard wiring simply showed its ugly head last night.”
She then asked, “How does that impact the men and women of the FBI who are trying to present a background check with integrity?”
MSNBC’s National Security Analyst Frank Figliuzzi replied by saying that he is hearing frustration in the ranks about what they are being permitted to do and not do.
“An investigation that is dictated to you by a politician is not necessarily an investigation with integrity,” Figliuzzi stressed. “I’m not even holding out hope for that at this point.”
