Cable news ratings, January 24, 2011:

•On the first weeknight since the departure of Keith Olbermann, MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell–who inherited Olbermann’s 8 p.m. timeslot–saw a healthy bump in his ratings: 332,000 viewers 25-54, which is higher than Olbermann’s average in the timeslot. It has to be noted that Monday night was hardly an average night for MSNBC, with huge interest in how O’Donnell would handle the Olbermann exit. Fox’s Bill O’Reilly was unshaken by the turmoil across town, comfortably perched in his traditional first place with 815,000 viewers 25-54.

•At CNN, Piers Morgan, who grabbed second place in the 9 p.m. hour his first week out, dipped on Monday, sliding to third place in both total viewers and viewers 25-54.
