MSNBC’s Ali Velshi and Stephanie Ruhle combined forces on Wednesday to rake Donald Trump Jr. and other conspiracy theorists across the coals for spreading “fake news” about the students in Parkland, Florida demanding stricter gun laws after last week’s school shooting.
Earlier in the show, Ruhle seethed about the “pathetic, offensive, ludicrous” rumors claiming that David Hogg and other pro-gun control students are deep state “crisis actors” the left and the media are using to bash President Trump and the NRA. Ruhle and Velshi said it was “beneath us” to even bother reporting these “despicable” smears, but it has become necessary to address the fake news making waves online.
Velshi and Ruhle proceeded to systematically dismantle the core elements of the conspiracy theory in order to show how “ridiculous and disrespectful and dangerous” it is. After they were done dispelling the conspiracy theories, they turned their attention to how often Trump and his son call media outlets “fake news” when “this is literally fake news!”
“If Donald Trump Jr. sees this, or you know Donald Trump Jr., please tell him next time to think about hitting the ‘like’ button, undermining the credibility of children who have just experienced unimaginable horror.”
From there, Velshi and Ruhle highlighted NBC’s interview earlier today with Samantha Fuentes, a Parkland student who was horribly injured during last week’s carnage.
“Punched herself in the face, you think?” a disgusted Velshi sarcastically asked. “Falsifying information and spreading it out there to millions of people. That’s fake news.”
