The problem with some of these “magic walls” in cable news in that they are completely unpredictable during live shots. During the non-stop election coverage in 2016, you can regularly catch cable anchors, analysts, and pundits fumbling with screen buttons that don’t work; or, if you’re like MSNBC’s Steve Kornacki, you may just accidentally draw a gigantic wall-sized penis when you’re trying to draw the U.S. map, with New England and Florida as misshapen testicles to boot.
During a live shot alongside Hallie Jackson, Kornacki dug in to the electoral delegate count on Tuesday morning, and quickly whipped up the following map to better illustrate his point.
Jackson can be clearly be seen laughing her way through Kornacki’s admitted “crude version” of the map, but managed to keep it together for the segment like a pro (“crude” definitely has a double meaning here, but Kornacki seems to refuse acknowledgment of the phallic-imagery he created). The map was, uh, erected to highlight the big voting conventions still ahead on the primary calendar: New York, New Jersey, Indiana, and California.
The map-drawing adventure begins at the 2:00 mark of the above video, which you can watch from MSNBC.
