The last time Jimmy Kimmel got visibly emotional during his late night monologue was during his moving tribute to David Letterman back in May. Last night, it happened again.
Kimmel was expressing his outrage over the American dentist, Walter James Palmer, who illegally killed the beloved Cecil the Lion while on safari in Zimbabwe’s Hwange National Park, when he had to stop and compose himself to keep from crying on air.
In an effort to have “some good out of this disgusting tragedy,” Kimmel directed viewers to donate money the website for Oxford University’s Wildlife Conservation Research Unit, which appears to have currently crashed under the influx of new visitors.
“At the very least, maybe we can show the world that not all Americans are like this jackhole here,” he said, as Palmer’s photo appeared on the screen.
