NAACP Head: Sterling Will Not Receive Lifetime Achievement Award

One of the most interesting details to emerge after audio was released of Donald Sterling allegedly going on a racist rant was that Sterling was scheduled to get a lifetime achievement award from the L.A. branch of the NAACP. The interim president of the NAACP, Lorraine Miller, told David Gregory on Sunday that is no longer happening. Miller said that “if you’re silent about this, then you’re accepting this,” and encouraged more people to speak out and condemn Sterling’s remarks.

The NAACP LA website also edited the list of honorees featured on its website. Below you can see the original list, followed by the new list. Sterling’s name is noticeably absent.

[Correction: an earlier version of this post’s headline referred to Miller as the head of the NAACP LA. She is the interim president of the national NAACP.]
