Jerrold Nadler, the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, responded tonight to the White House directing Don McGahn to defy the committee’s subpoena dnd not show up at a hearing Tuesday morning.
He told CNN’s Chris Cuomo tonight that “this is part of the pattern of the president and Rudy Giuliani and the White House generally intimidating McGahn from testifying, acting lawlessly to prevent him from testifying about the obstructions of justice which he testified to… by Mueller.”
“So you’re dealing with a lawless president,” he continued, “who is willing to go to any lengths to prevent testimony that might implicate him, that does implicate him.”
He said they fully intend to hold McGahn in contempt, then pass a resolution in the full House to enforce the contempt citations against both McGahn and Attorney General Bill Barr.
