Nancy Pelosi: Today ‘We’re Trying To Save Life On This Planet As We Know It’ From GOP Budget

Democratic Minority Leader in the House Nancy Pelosi certainly has a way with words. At a press conference today, she attempted to remind everyone just how vital the ongoing debt negotiations are not only for America’s future, but also for every living, breathing organism throughout the entire planet!

In the Fox News report below, Pelosi is quoted as saying:

“What we’re trying to do is save the world from the Republican budget . . . We’re trying to save life on this planet as we know it today.”

In the clip, Jon Scott asked his guest Republican Senator Rob Portman whether that statement was hyperbole? It’s likely if one were to look up the definition of “hyperbole,” Pelosi’s statement here would probably be staring them back in the face.

Yet Portman didn’t want Pelosi to have all the fun and responded:

“If we don’t get our budget problems under control with record deficits and debts, and we don’t begin to deal with these underlying issues, we will become more like Greece.”

In the battle of hyperbolic statements, it seems Pelosi gets the victory here, yet with the debt ceiling deadline just a few days away, might others soon attempt to challenge her for the hyperbolic throne?
