NBC News Fires Senior Executive Amid Allegations of ‘Inappropriate Conduct’ With Women

NBC News confirmed today that it had dismissed senior executive Matt Zimmerman after he was accused by multiple women of “inappropriate conduct.”

“We have recently learned that Matt Zimmerman engaged in inappropriate conduct with more than one woman at NBCU, which violated company policy. As a result he has been dismissed,” NBC News said in a statement on Zimmerman’s termination.

Zimmerman was the senior vice president for booking and had been with NBC News since 2004. Starting in 2014, he had been in charge of booking guests on Today and other programs. NBC stated that Zimmerman was not in the office today and the full nature of the accusations was not made clear.

This dismissal comes shortly after NBC got rid of political contributor Mark Halperin following allegations he had sexually harassed numerous women when he worked at ABC News. In the wake of the Harvey Weinstein revelations, a number of powerful men in entertainment and media have been the subject of allegations of sexual misconduct.
