NBC’s Chuck Todd Blames Roger Ailes and Fox News for Current Anti-Media Environment

NBC host Chuck Todd took a shot at Fox News and took a shot at the legacy of the late-Roger Ailes, as he condemned the “conservative echo chamber” that he believes created an unfounded anti-media sentiment among Americans.

The comments, which took place during Sunday’s airing of Meet the Press on NBC News, were made as Todd debated conservative media personality David Brody of CBN News.

“One of the best things going in Donald Trump’s favor — we know this — is the mainstream media,” Brody said. “I hate to say it — I know I’m sitting on a Meet the Press roundtable, but the truth of the matter is 62% think the media is biased. So in other words, if you look at the approval ratings of Donald Trump versus the approval rating of the media.”

“The conservative echo chamber created that environment,” interjected Todd. “No. No. No. It has been a tactic and a tool of the Roger Ailes-created echo chamber.”

“So let’s not pretend it’s not anything other than that,” he added.

Brody told Todd to “hang on” and claimed that “independents are part of Donald Trump’s base” and “those independents also distrust media.”

“This is not just Republicans,” Brody said. “It is many Americans.”

“I take your point. I’m just saying it was a creation — it was a campaign tactic. It’s not based in much fact,” concluded Todd.
