Peter Alexander and Sarah Huckabee Sanders mixed it up on Thursday when the NBC reporter asked whether President Trump is still okay with Vladimir Putin in light of the recent news about Russia’s actions.
The Trump Administration authorized new sanctions against Russia for their 2016 election meddling earlier today, and the president also spoke about the British government’s conclusion that Russia is responsible for the recent chemical attack in Salisbury. Alexander brought up the Kremlin’s record of “bad behavior” during the White House press briefing, and he asked if Vladimir Putin was “playing” Trump.
Sanders insisted that Trump has been tough on Russia while looking for areas of international cooperation, to which, Alexander responded by asking, “Is Putin a friend or foe of the United States?”
“I think it’s something Russia will have to make that determination… to decide if they want to be a good or bad actor,” the press secretary responded.
