NBC’s Savannah Guthrie Apologizes for Cursing on TV: ‘Good Thing I Don’t Wear a Mic All Day’

In this episode of scandalous hot mic reports: NBC’s Savannah Guthrie was caught saying “shit” in between segments during Wednesday morning’s Today show.

The audio played for the program’s nationwide audience, as Guthrie appeared to be focusing on her notes and preparing for her next live shot. The host brushed off the apparent technical error on Twitter, writing, “guess it’s good thing I don’t wear a mic all day.”

“Check, check – is this thing on? Yeah I guess it is,” Guthrie wrote shortly after the show ended. “So sorry guys. Thanks for being kind and understanding.”

Guthrie joins a distinguished group of infamous cursers accidentally caught on hot mic, including President Donald Trump, former President Barack Obama, former Vice President Joe Biden, the notorious local anchor A.J. Clemente; the list goes on and on. Reporters from virtually every major outlet have slipped up on live television, unaware at the time their audio is being broadcast to millions of listeners.

The NBC anchor was showered with support from Twitter users, who celebrated the gaffe as a relatable and common mistake.

“The NBC10 affiliate here in Philly had you on for at least a minute,” one user wrote. “I was hysterical watching your facial expressions.”
