NBC’s Today made an interesting programming choice today at 8:46 a.m., when there was a moment of silence held in New York City and at the White House to mark the time the first plane hit the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. Unlike other networks, NBC ran an interview with Kris Jenner, of Keeping Up with the Kardashians fame.
While Good Morning America, CBS This Morning and the cable networks cut to the president and First Lady leading the moment of silence, NBC aired the interview, which featured Jenner, the “momager,” talking about the upcoming season finale of her reality show and airing their personal lives on television (including her recent breast augmentation).
As TVNewser notes, in New York, WNBC coverage broke into Today‘s programming with local coverage, which did include the moment of silence.
