Nicolle Wallace, Joy Reid Go Off on Republicans Trying to ‘Protect the President’ on Russia

On Deadline: White House this afternoon, MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace and Joy Reid went off on congressional Republicans who have been going out of their way to “protect the President” on the Russia probe.

Nicolle Wallace noted how there are Republicans trying to “revived debunked lines of investigation,” including the Uranium One controversy. Wallace offered some praise to Reid (and Fox News’ Shep Smith) for their debunkings of that particular controversy.

Wallace saying Republicans on the House Intel Committee are “going rogue” and throwing up shiny objects to distract from the real investigation.

Joy Reid agreed and said, “This is the committee to protect the President.”

She said the goal is clearly to find ways to “exonerate Donald Trump” whether that be through smearing the FBI or “false scandals” or going after “real criminal” Hillary Clinton.

Wallace even speculated, “They must know that he’s guilty of something or they wouldn’t be working so hard.”
