Nicolle Wallace: ‘The Republican Party’s Soul’ Is Gone After Trump Endorsed Roy Moore

Earlier this week, President Donald Trump officially endorsed embattled Alabama GOP Senate nominee Roy Moore. This was soon followed by the RNC reinvesting in the state, weeks after it had pulled out of the race. And while speaking to reporters today, the president reiterated his support for Moore, stating that “we don’t want to have a liberal Democrat in Alabama.”

The president backing a man who has been accused of teen sex abuse led MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace to declare that the GOP was now soulless. After playing a clip of Trump’s comments from earlier today, Wallace went in on the Republican Party and the president.

“Going, going, gone,” she exclaimed on Deadline: White House. “That was the Republican Party’s soul — what’s left of it — after the president gave Roy Moore his full endorsement and the RNC announced it would help fund Moore’s candidacy.”

Wallace followed that up by noting that Moore allegedly stalked his victims in courthouses and malls before highlighting that Moore isn’t the only politician to be accused of sexual misconduct. She then played video of accusers of Sen. Al Franken (D-MN), Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) and Trump speaking out.

The MSNBC host went on to state that Moore and Trump haven’t faced the same repercussions that Conyers and Franken have, saying Franken has apologized and is fighting for his political career while Conyers has now retired.

“Roy Moore is about to start his Senate career and Donald Trump is politically untainted,” Wallace said.
