Norm Macdonald Auditions for CBS’ Late Late Show Gig on Conan
Craig Ferguson is retiring from his role as host of CBS’ The Late Late Show at the end of this year and comedian Norm Macdonald really wants to take over for him. He’s been lobbying for the job on Twitter using the hashtag #latelatenormnorm and tonight got a chance to do a formal audition on Conan.
In under 60 seconds, Macdonald delivered a monologue about Kate Upton’s breasts, traded some witty banter with sidekick Andy Richter and interviewed comedy legend Fred Willard, demonstrating he has all of the skills necessary to follow Stephen Colbert on the Late Show next year.
Last week, Macdonald made waves by announcing the Joel McHale had gotten the CBS gig, but when that news failed to materialize at CBS’ upfronts presentation, it appears the job is still up for grabs. Now he just needs to hope Les Moonves watches Conan.
