Obama Addresses Cosby’s Medal of Freedom, Allegations: ‘No Tolerance for Rape’
During his lengthy Iran presser today, President Obama ended up fielding a question on Bill Cosby and whether he as president would revoke Cosby’s Presidential Medal of Freedom, given to Cosby back in 2002.
There’s a petition on the White House website now with almost 90,000 signatures (100,000 is needed to get a White House response) to get the medal revoked.
Obama said there’s no precedent for doing such a thing and that “we don’t have that mechanism.”
That being said, the president had a lot to say about Cosby and the allegations surrounding him:
“If you give a woman or a man, for that matter, without his or her knowledge, a drug, and then have sex with that person without consent, that’s rape. And I think this country, any civilized country, should have no tolerance for rape.”
