President Obama said in an ABC interview this morning John Boehner‘s planned lawsuit against him is a “stunt.” And during a speech in Minnesota today, the president again referenced the lawsuit, saying Republicans are giving him grief and trying to sue him just for doing his job.
Republicans have argued Obama grossly overstepped his bounds with actions on immigration, the minimum wage, and other issues, while the president says he’s taking action because Republicans in Congress refuse to compromise on anything. (Though this week the Supreme Court put a stop to at least one of the actions Obama was taking to bypass Congress.)
Speaking today, Obama expressed astonishment that a do-nothing Congress is getting on his case for finally taking action:
“They’re not doing anything and then they’re mad that I’m doing something. I’m not sure which of the things I’ve done they find most offensive, but they’ve decided they’re going to sue me for doing my job.”
