President Barack Obama dismissed concerns about the recent rise in Obamacare premiums in a speech Thursday afternoon, telling a Miami audience that it would only affect a small number of Americans.
“It is true, premiums are going up for a handful of people who don’t get tax credits. That’s important,” he said.
“We’re working hard to do something about it. We would would have already done it if Republicans had helped,” Obama said. “Keep in mind, their alternative would have been no health insurance.”
Obamacare premiums are expected to rise by 22% on average in 2017. 20 million people rely on Obamacare for their health insurance, 2.2 million of whom recieve no federal subsidies that would offset the costs.
