There has been some wild speculation about what Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) discussed during a private meeting over the weekend. But it was a one-on-one lunch between Biden and President Barack Obama on Monday that is fueling even more anticipation over a possible 2016 bid by the vice president.

According to multiple reports, Obama gave Biden his “blessing” to run in the Democratic presidential primary against Hillary Clinton.

Asked about Obama’s assessment of Biden’s presidential prospects on Monday, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said the his nomination as vice president “should give you some sense of the president’s view of Vice President Biden’s aptitude for the top job.” Earnest also indicated the Obama would likely make an endorsement during the primary.

This, combined with the fact that Clinton has locked down only a small fraction of Obama’s biggest campaign donors thus far, led Morning Joe’s Mike Barnicle to declare Tuesday morning, “The White House has a candidate, and his name is Joe Biden.”
