Obama Responds To Question About Slipping Lead In The Polls: Media ‘Have Some Short Memories’

In a preview of NBC News anchor Brian Williams’ two-part interview with President Barack Obama, set to air on Rock Center tomorrow and Friday night, the president said that he was not concerned with his slipping lead in the polls against Gov. Mitt Romney. Obama said the question itself was foolish because the media had dismissed his chances of reelection more than a year ago.

Williams asked the president if he thought that the president felt like he would be sitting on a more substantial lead in the polls. Obama’s response was to say that the media had all but declared his reelection bid a failure before it had even begun and his comeback in the past year has been significant.

“You guys have some short memories. Folks in your business were writing me off a year ago, saying there was no way I would win,” Obama replied.
