Obama to Ferguson Protestors: Don’t Use Verdict as ‘Excuse for Violence’

ABC News tonight aired a snippet of President Obama‘s interview with George Stephanopoulos in which he addresses the current unrest in Ferguson. Obama said protestors should be careful and not use an announcement of no indictment against Darren Wilson in the shooting of Michael Brown as an excuse to resort to violent acts.

The president said, “This is a country that allows everybody to express their views, allows them to peacefully assemble, to protest actions that they think are unjust, but using any of that as an excuse for violence is contrary to the rule of law and contrary to who we are.”

The grand jury ruling is expected very soon, and the community is bracing for potential unrest.
