Officials Say Explosion at FedEx Facility Near San Antonio Likely Linked to Serial Austin Bombings
— CNN (@CNN) March 20, 2018
A package destined for Austin, Texas exploded at a FedEx facility near San Antonio on Tuesday, leading federal officials to believe it is connected to several attacks by a serial bomber that have killed two people in the state.
Officials said the latest explosion detonated around 12:25 a.m. at a facility in Schertz, Texas, north of San Antonio, injuring at least two people, per the Associated Press.
CBS Austin reported that the “package contained shrapnel consisting of nails and pieces of metal,” but did not leave anyone seriously injured as it “was moving from an elevated conveyor belt to a lower section when it exploded.”
Austin police said on Monday, before this latest explosion, that they believed the recent string of four explosions in the city this month that have killed two and wounded several more is the result of a serial bomber.
