While CNN aired dramatic footage of a swift water rescue Thursday in Colorado, anchor Carol Costello gasped out of fear as an overturned vehicle shifted directly into the raging flood waters.
Torrential rainfall overnight in Boulder, Colo., has left at least two people dead as flash floods swept away homes, washed out roads, and shut down power sources. While covering the aftermath, CNN cut to KCNC-TV’s local coverage of an overturned vehicle stuck in flooded creek waters.
Rescue workers attempted to tow the battered vehicle out of the flood water while rescuing a man stranded inside the car’s rear section. While the vehicle remained on its side for much of the rescue, it finally overturned and began to fill up with whitewater.
“Oh my!” anchor Costello gasped off-camera as the drama unfolded. Luckily for the stranded man, rescuers were able to open the rear passenger door and pull him out to safety.
“That was absolutely amazing,” Costello concluded as the rescued individual was placed upon a stretcher.
