Bill O’Reilly returned to The Factor Tuesday night fired up about Syria, strongly defending the United States taking action against the regime of Bashar al-Assad for the use of chemical weapons. He said that while America has often “righted many wrongs at great expense,” involvement in Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan has made Americans weary of sacrifice. O’Reilly argued this is a mistake, saying the United States cannot simply “let evil go unchallenged.”
O’Reilly declared the U.S. has a “responsibility to stop mass murder when we can,” warning of the consequences to American power if no action is taken. He said, “Many evil men and women believe the USA is weak,” and suggested they could be vindicated if the U.S. does not strike Syria.
O’Reilly also slammed conservatives “willing to give Assad a pass because they don’t support President Obama,” saying they’re just the same as liberals who opposed war in Iraq because of George W. Bush. O’Reilly warned doing nothing means “no weapons are off limits” by oppressive leaders like Assad. He said, “We should use our power to protect the innocent if we can.”
O’Reilly concluded, “Justice can be imposed by one people only: us.”
