Bill O’Reilly called into his show tonight, guest-hosted by Eric Bolling, to argue that the biggest driving force behind the Brexit was immigration and open borders.
O’Reilly said that in certain parts of England, you feel like “you’re in Pakistan or you’re in the Middle East” and places are “dominated by non-English-speaking people.”
And so the Brexit, he concluded, was “all about immigration” and an “emotional vote against open borders.” O’Reilly said the UK is a very traditional place and people just don’t like change.
Bolling wondered if this happened because of the spread of Donald Trump-ism across the world. O’Reilly said it’s the opposite––Trump is aping the style of center-right leaders rising across Europe with anti-immigration messages.
O’Reilly made it clear this isn’t about racism––though some have pointed to xenophobic motivations––just a genuine concern about immigrants coming to the UK and not assimilating.
