Fox News Channel host Bill O’Reilly probed Republican strategist Karl Rove on Monday night about the depth of the Republican Party’s 2016 bench of prospective candidates. While Rove repeatedly discussed the potential weaknesses of Democratic candidates like Hillary Clinton, O’Reilly asked Rove who “his guy” was on the GOP side. Rove became apparently exasperated when he had to repeatedly tell the Fox News host that he does not “have a guy.”
Rove insisted that Clinton may become a liability for Democratic candidates seeking reelection in 2014. O’Reilly, not taking this deflection for an answer, repeatedly asked Rove who the Republican Party would coalesce behind ahead of 2016.
“I’m going to try for the third time,” O’Reilly said. “Who’s your guy? Who’s the Republicans’ guy?”
“For the third time, Bill, I don’t have a guy and the Republicans don’t have a guy,” Rove responded.
“You don’t have anybody that you like? Nobody?” O’Reilly pressed. Rove replied by citing a variety of potential candidates but stopped short of assessing the political appeal of each.
