On CBS This Morning Tuesday, Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly suggested it could take an attack of 9/11 proportions in order to motivate the U.S. and its allies to effectively push back against global terrorism.
O’Reilly said the U.S. — which began leading airstrikes against the Islamic terrorist network ISIS in Syria Monday — needs act as the central authority on combating terrorism and also recruit a permanent international “voluntary” army.
“You just can’t have this unwieldy apparatus saying, ‘maybe we’ll get them but maybe we have to go over here,'” O’Reilly said. “You have to have a central command, an authority to fight world-wide terrorism and we don’t have it now. I don’t think we have the will yet. It’s going to take another 9/11 attack for the world to get the will.”
