Earlier this week Bill O’Reilly garnered scorn and ridicule for saying that Bowe Bergdahl‘s father looked like a Muslim when he was in the Rose Garden with President Obama Tonight O’Reilly repeatedly doubled down and insisted there was absolutely nothing wrong with what he said.
O’Reilly first went after MSNBC for its “desperation” in defending the White House on Bergdahl and dismissed the shot at his earlier comment, explaining there was nothing wrong with it. Howard Kurtz said this isn’t a “swift boat” attack, as White House allies would like to believe, but rather “the media challenging the administration’s narrative.”
O’Reilly then addressed the criticism he’s gotten for his comments about Bergdahl’s father, and argued that it was absolutely spot-on.
“A) He absolutely looked like a Muslim. B) He talked in Pashto, the language of the Taliban. And C) He thanked Allah. I thought the appearance was totally inappropriate, I said it, I’ll stand by it. Why am I being injected into that?”
Kurtz told O’Reilly he went too far there, but O’Reilly insisted, “My job is to be honest and analyze honestly.”
