O’Reilly Responds to Chris Matthews Joke: He Has ‘Good Reason’ to ‘Want Me Dead’

During the “Pinheads of the Week” portion of The O’Reilly Factor Friday night, Bill O’Reilly finally gave his reaction to comments Chris Matthews made about him on The Colbert Report earlier this week. While he didn’t take any particular offense to the joke, he did understand why Matthews would make it.

It was actually contributor Jesse Watters who chose Matthews as his chosen “pinhead” for the joke he made about wanting somebody to write a book called “Killing O’Reilly.” O’Reilly was shocked that the joke got audible jeering from Colbert’s audience and Watters added, “If you’re a liberal and you lose audience at a Comedy Central show, that’s like missing a 2-foot putt.”

“I didn’t take offense at that,” O’Reilly insisted, taking the high road. “He is he just making a jest.” When his guests pushed him a bit, he asked, “Really, you think he wants to see me dead?”

“I wouldn’t put it past him,” Bernard McGuirk replied. “He’s a bitter, spittle-spewing psycho this guy. People are very jealous of Bill O’Reilly right now.”

“There is good reason why he and his cohorts would want me dead,” O’Reilly said. “Ratings. I mean, come on.”

This gave Watters an idea for O’Reilly’s new book: “Killing Ratings.”
