Bill O’Reilly decided the pundits of Fox News were not quite enough to convey just how outraged everyone is about the scandals rocking the Obama administration this week, so he sent a producer out fox some vox pops from people randomly walking in the streets of New York. And the big takeaway? People really don’t know much about the news.
At the top, O’Reilly cited a poll showing that only a slim majority of people are following the IRS and Benghazi scandals, and he bookended the segment by saying people have no clue what’s going on. But in between, well, that’s where all the less-than-informed chatter came in.
With the exception of one guy who seemed pretty outraged at the lack of transparency in Washington, practically no one interviewed by O’Reilly’s producer could adequately articulate anything about either big scandal. Even the guy with the words “SEX” and “DRUGS” on his shirt who said he didn’t know anything about Benghazi. The producer even went so far as to ask one woman if she felt bad for not paying more attention to the news, and shaming people into explaining what they must be doing that they can’t be bothered to follow every story out of Washington.
In fairness, this is New York, not Texas, so keep that in mind when you consider the lack of outraged responses in the segment.
