O’Reilly to 60 Minutes: ‘Holy Spirit’ Told Me to Write Killing Jesus

In a preview for an interview that will air on this week’s season premiere of CBS’ 60 Minutes, Bill O’Reilly reveals the divine inspiration that led him to write his new book, Killing Jesus. O’Reilly told Norah O’Donnell that the idea for his book about the events leading up the crucifixion came to him in the middle of the night directly from the “Holy Spirit.”

“One night I just woke and went: ‘Killing Jesus,'” O’Reilly said. “And I believe, because I’m a Catholic, that comes from the Holy Spirit. My inspiration comes from that. And so I wrote Killing Jesus, because I think I was directed to write that.”

Asked why the Holy Spirit would choose him specifically, O’Reilly replied, “You’re asking me to speculate about the deity.” He said he’s not “the chosen one” but rather “just one of many who have been given the gift. I can write and I can bloviate on TV.”
