O’Reilly: Trump Doesn’t Mean Much of What He Says Literally, If He Did It’d Be ‘Frightening’

billBill O’Reilly posited tonight that Donald Trump does not mean much of what he says literally and told the man himself so minutes later.

As a follow-up to his clash with Charles Krauthammer last night, O’Reilly said that Trump is tapping into people’s anger and “running on emotion” while not caring that much about policy. He said, “His campaign strategy has been brilliant, but if you take what he says literally, he can be a frightening guy.”

Minutes later, he confronted Trump on lack of policy specifics and asked, “Are you gonna tell me tonight on this program that you don’t say stuff just to get to the emotion of the voter?”

Trump touted how big he’s been talking on issues, but O’Reilly again said his campaign is based on emotion. He told Trump he didn’t take it literally when he said he was going to “take out” terrorists’ families.

Trump insisted to O’Reilly that he’s totally serious about doing “pretty severe stuff” to the families of people the U.S. knows to be terrorists.
