Outnumbered Drags Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez For Rejecting Ben Shapiro Debate Invitation: ‘The Antithesis of Catcalling’

Fox News’ Outnumbered panel was most unimpressed with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez‘s refusal of Ben Shapiro‘s invitation for a debate on her policy positions.

The Daily Wire editor-in-chief said he would donate $10,000 to Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign or the charity of her choice if she would meet him for a debate about the merits of Democratic Socialism. The House candidate swatted down the idea last night on Twitter, likening it to “catcalling” because Shapiro supposedly made the offer with “bad intentions.”

When Katie Pavlich addressed the news with her colleagues, she taunted Ocasio-Cortez by saying “if you don’t want to debate a man, I’ll debate you as well.”

“As someone used to debating, is asking for conversation cat calling?” Pavlich asked. “It seems pretty ridiculous.”

Tom Dupree, today’s #OneLuckyGuy, said Shapiro’s offer was “the antithesis of catcalling” because he was showed respect to Ocasio-Cortez by asking for a serious engagement on her views.

Lisa Boothe hypothesized that Ocasio-Cortez is avoiding these kinds of debates because of several recent gaffes. She also objected to the “catcalling” description since it detracts from actual instances of sexual harassment.

“It just shows the hollowness of her preparedness for that argument,” Harris Faulkner said.

The panel agreed it was a “mistake” for Shapiro when he previously promised to give the money to Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign, rather than to charity. But the panel believes the bigger issue is that the aspiring progressive congresswoman doesn’t seem prepared to tackle the issues.

“I think Democrats have been tricked into elevating her,” Melissa Francis said. “She’s someone who is interesting to hear her story and interesting that she won this seat, but she doesn’t seem to have a lot to back it up. I would say she’s definitely too chicken to face Ben Shapiro, at the same time, he should not have brought money into it.”
