Palin Praises Cruz on Hannity, Defends Him from GOP Critics: ‘People Throw Rocks at Things That Shine’

Sarah Palin joined Sean Hannity on Tuesday night for hour seven of Ted Cruz‘s Obamacare filibuster on the Senate floor. Both Palin and Hannity were amazed at the level of Republican opposition to Cruz, and stepped in to defend the Texas senator from the GOP establishment.

Palin opened by joking that if Cruz runs out of things to talk about on the Senate floor, he could just read the health care law, since no one else has yet. Hannity called this a “tipping point” for the Republican party, noting how only a smattering of Republican senators have supported Cruz’s efforts.

Palin said Cruz is one of the only Republicans who “does not want to see us destroyed by bad, selfish policies,” and even if it might be a lost cause, it’s worth it to “fight tooth-and-nail until his political death.”

Hannity declared this to be a “real showdown in the Republican party between conservatives and more establishment types,” with Palin predicting that Cruz’s success may lead to “another Reagan uprising in a couple of years.” Hannity noted there may be some “jealousy and anger” amongst senior Republicans at Cruz. Palin said, “People throw rocks at things that shine.”
