Pat Robertson: Gay People Willing to Destroy Fabric of Society Over ‘Their Weird Way of Doing Sex’

Televangelist Pat Robertson says that “homosexuals” are willing to “destroy the whole fabric of society” in order to ensure that “their weird way of doing sex is legitimized,” because the City of Philadelphia won’t pay a Catholic agency to discriminate against same-sex couples.

On Monday’s edition of Christian Broadcasting Network’s (CBN) The 700 Club, Robertson ran a “news” package on Philadelphia’s decision to terminate their contract with Catholic Social Services because the agency refused, as the CBN “news” personalities put it, to”endorse” same-sex marriages.

The case actually stems from Catholic Social Services’ refusal to abide by the city’s anti-discrimination policy.

In commentary following the “report,” flagged by Right Wing Watch, Robertson railed against the “gay agenda,” and “the weird way they do sex.”

“The incredible thing about the homosexuals is they are willing to destroy lives and destroy the whole fabric of society so long as they and their weird way of doing sex is legitimized,” Robertson said. “That’s what they want, and they will take away everything; they will destroy marriage, they will destroy families, they will destroy, in this case, the foster children. They are willing to tear down the entire edifice in order to have the majority of people recognize the way they do sex.”

He went on to urge Christians to vote out politicians who go “along with the gay agenda,” and accused gay people of “dominating everything we do, and every aspect of our lives.”

The Supreme Court has already denied the agency an injunction against the city that would have required Philadelphia to continue placing children with Catholic Social Services, and the case is currently before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

Robertson is not completely devoid of a sense of irony, however unintentional. Immediately prior to his segment on a Catholic agency being denied the placement of foster children, he weighed in on another topic.

“There’s something else we need to consider that is been so grievous to all of us, and that is the incredible, incredible sex scandal going on in the Catholic Church,” Robertson said. “Pedophiles, nuns who claim that they are having affairs with others, priests that are siring children even though they’re not supposed to be married, it just goes on and on.”

“It’s a shocking thing, but apparently the Pope is trying to get his arms around the matter and clean it up,” he added.

Robertson is referring to the recently concluded Vatican sexual abuse summit, which is an awkward juxtaposition with a story about a Catholic agency refusing to place children with qualified foster parents because those parents are engaged in consensual, adult, same-sex relationships.
