Paul Ryan on Possibility of President Trump: ‘We’ll Make It Work’

House Speaker Paul Ryan clearly doesn’t care much for Donald Trump, but he made it clear today that if Trump becomes president, “we’ll make it work.”

He told CNBC’s John Harwood, “I’m going to speak my mind. I’m going to defend conservatism as I understand it. I’m going to defend our ideas as the Republican party. But we’re going to have to work with whoever our nominee is.”

When Harwood asked him if he’s looking into funding for border wall construction, Ryan cheekily reminded him Mexico’s supposed to pay for that.

He did reject the idea that Trump’s popularity means that the voters don’t want trade deals or entitlement reform.
