Paul Ryan spoke at the Republican National Convention tonight and spent the vast majority of his time ripping the Democrats and making more a case for Republican governance than a case for Donald Trump.
He went on and on about Democratic politics of division, calling for a rejection of identity politics, and he declared, “They are offering a third Obama term brought to you by another Clinton, and you’re supposed to be excited about that.”
Ryan expects the Democratic National Convention will be a “four-day infomercial of politically correct moralizing” full of ideas that “have done exactly nothing to help” ordinary Americans.
“Progressives,” he said, “deliver everything except progress.
But he was remarkably silent on the virtues of his party’s nominee. There was only one big mention of Trump in Ryan’s speech: “Only under Donald Trump and Mike Pence do we have a chance at a better way.”
