Pence Holds Firm on Stance That Mueller Should ‘Wrap it Up’: People ‘All Across America’ Agree
“In the interest of the country, I think it’s time to wrap it up,” Vice President Mike Pence told NBC’s Andrea Mitchell on May 10.
Pence, of course, was referring to special counsel Robert Mueller‘s probe — which, the veep told Mitchell on May 10, ought to be concluded. The remark drew wide condemnation in the media and on Capitol Hill. Despite the outcry, though, Pence is not wavering from his stance.
Speaking with Martha MacCallum on The Story Monday night, Pence stood behind his call for Mueller to finish up his work and conclude the investigation into Russian election interference and President Donald Trump.
“I think that’s probably an opinion widely shared by people all across America,” Pence said of his previous statement that Mueller should conclude his probe. “The truth is it’s been now more than a year…I continue to hope, and to say very respectfully, that the special counsel ought to — with all deliberate means — complete their work, and provide the information to their leadership at the Department of Justice that will come from this investigation, so that we can just simply move on as a country.”
