Pence Calls on Joy Behar to Apologize for ‘Slander’ on Christian Faith: ‘It Was Never About Me’

Vice President Mike Pence is calling on The View‘s Joy Behar to publicly apologize for her remarks last month about his Christian faith.

Behar caused a fair bit of commotion recently after she snarked about some gossip former White House aide Omarosa Manigault shared about Pence during her participation on Big Brother. Behar ended up drawing a connection between Pence’s Christianity and mental illness on The View, which generated considerable outrage among conservative corners.

Pence previously rebuked the disparaging comments, but during his interview with Sean Hannity on Monday night, he talked to the Fox host about how Behar apologized to him personally. Pence said Behar seemed sincere in her apology, and he was willing to forgive her over the episode.

”My Christian faith is the most important thing in my life,” Pence said. “I felt it was important that I defend the faith of tens of millions of Americans against that kind of slander, and I did so. I give Joy a lot of credit.”

From there, Pence said he would urge Behar to apologize to the nation for the offensiveness of her comments.

“For me, it was never about me. I didn’t take it personally,” Pence said. “I thought it was important in this moment that I speak out on behalf of the faith of tens of millions of Americans.”
