Peter King Insists That, So Far, He Hasn’t Seen ‘Any Evidence’ of Trump/Russia Collusion
Following up a typically weird interview with former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page on CNN, Rep. Peter King (R-NY) popped up and let it be known that he has yet to see any actual proof of collusion between Russia and Donald Trump’s campaign.
After stating that Page seemed to be going in “different directions,” King volunteered his thoughts on Russia/Trump.
“I’d just like to say up front, I’m not aware of any evidence so far of any collusion between the Trump campaign and any Russian agency and Carter Page,” the GOP congressman said.
King, a member of the House Intelligence Committee currently investigating potential ties between Russia and Trump, also went to bat for the president regarding his relationship with Page.
“My understanding is that Donald Trump has never even spoken to him, never had a conversation with him,” King stated. “He was at maybe one meeting of the campaign. So again, whatever he’s saying, he’s saying on his own.”
King’s comments are at odds with those of some of his Democratic colleagues. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), the ranking member of the Intelligence Committee, has said he’s seen evidence that isn’t circumstantial that there was collusion. Rep. Mark Pocan (D-WI) hinted that classified reports he’s read contain “damning evidence” on Trump/Russia coordination.
