Peter Strzok’s Lawyer: Republicans Aren’t Looking for the Truth, They Want to ‘Preen and Posture’
The lawyer for Peter Strzok, the FBI agent who was taken off the Mueller probe after the discovery of anti-Trump texts, spoke to CNN’s Chris Cuomo tonight and railed against both President Trump and Fox News for what they’ve said about his client.
Aitan Goelman said Strzok wants to testify publicly, telling Cuomo “this is not a search for truth––it is a chance for Republican members of the House to preen and posture before their most radical conspiracy-minded constituents.”
“Pete has sat and listened as he’s been caricatured and misdescribed,” Goelman said, “and accused by the President of treason and of being a sick loser. And on Fox News they talk about him as the center of this anti-Trump cabal that was determined to throw the election against Trump. None of this has a shred of truth.”
Cuomo pressed Goelman a bit on the contents of some of those texts and whether they constitute bias. Goelman argued it’s “completely fair” to say Strzok and Lisa Page were not fans of Trump’s, but he pointed to things Trump did during the campaign (like going after the Khan family) that sickened them.
At one point during the interview Cuomo offered to have Strzok on his show to let him tell his story.
